Please refer to the matter raised by you during zero hour in Rajya Sabha on 18th September 2020 on the subject demand for increasing minimum pension for Provident Fund Pensioners and urging upon the Government to take necessary action in this regard and implement the verdict of the Honorable Court.
I would like to inform you that the issue raised have been examined in this ministry in consultation with Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). As regards demands for enhancement of minimum pension under EPS 1995 it is informed that my Ministry had taken up the issue of enhancement of minimum pension under EPS 1995 with Department of Expenditure Ministry of Finance since 2018, Further on 9 September 2020, a proposal has been sent to Ministry of Finance by secretary Labour and Employment. As such, the matter is under examination in consultation with Ministry of Finance.
As regards demands of implementing the verdict of Honorable Supreme Court, it is informed that the matter is under consideration of Honorable Supreme Court and such the matter is currently sub-judice. Therefore, further decision is this matter shall be taken on finalization of the court proceedings.
